I Cannot Promise You Millions

But I Can Help You Recognise What You Have and Make Your Next Move

Stop counting what you lack. Find the number you can command.

The world overflows with men who promise to teach the secret of riches. I am not one of them. I have no secret, only the quiet suspicion that those who know, do not sell.

I cannot honestly promise that reading my work, thinking with me or following a particular formula will make you a millionaire. I don't know any of those who can guarantee that, and you should be careful with anyone who claims they can.

What I can do is help you recognise where you are, identify what you already possess and make a practical move towards your next level.

That is the purpose of the Zero Framework.

It is not a promise of wealth. It is an invitation to stop waiting, recognise your unseen foundation and take ownership of your direction.

Let Us Learn Before We Judge

In Ghana, business leaders who share stories about rising from humble beginnings are sometimes criticised for making success appear too simple. Their stories can leave people with the impression that anyone who has not succeeded must be lazy, undisciplined or unwilling to work.

That criticism is sometimes justified.

A successful person may forget the help, timing, access and good fortune that contributed to the journey. A story told carelessly can make struggle sound like a character defect.

But there is another mistake we can make.

We can dismiss every success story as fraud, dirty money, sikaduro or sakawa. This may temporarily make us feel better about our own position, but it teaches us nothing.

At ThinkWithYaw, we are choosing a different approach.

We are not here to worship successful people, and we are not here to condemn them without evidence. We are here to think together. We do not judge first. We learn first.

When we encounter something useful, we study it. When we encounter conduct that is unlawful, exploitative or contrary to our values, we reject it. We do not need to copy everything a person does in order to learn from something they do well.

Enough talk about other people. Let us focus on what we can do.

They May Know Something You Do Not Know

If someone is living a life you desire, it does not automatically mean that person is better, wiser or more deserving than you.

It may simply mean that they understand something you have not yet discovered.

They may know how to recognise an opportunity, earn trust, sell a service, manage money, build relationships or remain consistent long after the excitement has disappeared.

That should not make you feel inferior. It should make you curious.

  • What do they understand that I have not yet learned?
  • What useful behaviour can I observe?
  • What mistakes can I avoid?
  • What principle can I apply within my own circumstances?

Curiosity creates possibilities that resentment cannot.

Everyone Has a Number

Whoever you are, and wherever you are sitting right now, there is an amount of money that comes to you relatively easily.

Not necessarily comfortably.

Not necessarily consistently.

And probably not enough to support the life you ultimately want.

But there is a number you can already command.

Maybe you could raise GH₵100 by helping someone complete a task. Perhaps you could earn GH₵500 by selling a simple service. Maybe your salary, trade or existing customers already bring you a predictable amount each month. That is your current number.

It is not a judgment on your worth. It is simply an honest description of your present economic capacity. The Zero Framework begins there — not with the million you hope to make one day, but with the value you can create and command today.

I Do Not Have Capital

I have heard the sentence “I do not have capital” more times than I can count.

I want to be careful here because money matters. Anyone who tells you that money does not matter has probably never experienced the restrictions of having none.

Financial capital can purchase equipment, inventory, advertising, transportation and time. It can help a business start faster and survive its early mistakes.

But financial capital is not the only capital available to you.

Human capital — Your knowledge, physical ability, education, experience, creativity and practical skills.

Social capital — The people who know you, trust you, recommend you or answer when you call.

Reputational capital — Your name, reliability, honesty and the evidence that you keep your word.

Intellectual capital — Your ideas, methods, observations and understanding of a particular problem.

Cultural capital — Your language, local knowledge, customs and ability to connect with a particular community.

Digital capital — Your phone, internet access, online audience, content, data and ability to use digital tools.

Time capital — The hours, attention and energy you can invest before you have enough money to hire someone else.

Spiritual and emotional capital — The faith, courage, discipline, resilience and sense of purpose that help you continue through uncertainty.

Money can accelerate a business, but these other forms of capital often help you attract the first money.

Before saying you have nothing, take an honest inventory of what you already carry.

Your Unseen Foundation

God, in His wisdom, has placed value in every person.

There may be moments when you genuinely feel that you have nothing. But a zero bank balance describes your account; it does not describe your entire life.

You carry something into every room:

  • the way you communicate
  • what you can do with your hands
  • what you know
  • the people who trust you
  • the person who answers when you call
  • your reputation
  • your ability to solve a problem
  • your willingness to learn
  • the time you can commit

You may call it your ability, your network, your name or even your aura. In the Zero Framework, I call it part of your unseen foundation.

These assets may not yet appear on a financial statement, but they influence the first amount of money you can command.

Your first zero is the money you can already command by combining your existing capital with useful action.

Never Skip a Zero

It is natural to dream about making a million.

The difficulty is that the question “How can I make a million?” is often too distant to produce a useful answer.

What number can I genuinely reach from where I am — and what would help me add one zero to it?

If you can currently command GH₵100, study what would help you reach GH₵1,000.

When you can reliably command GH₵1,000, study what must change for you to reach GH₵10,000.

The ability required at each level may be different. Your first move may require courage. The next may require consistency. Later stages may demand stronger skills, better systems, trustworthy people, capital and responsible leadership.

This is why the first rule of the Zero Framework is:

Never skip a zero.

This does not mean every journey will follow a perfect mathematical sequence. Life is rarely that tidy. It means you must respect the capacity each level requires.

Do not become so obsessed with the final number that you ignore the person, skill and structure needed to carry the next one.

Your First Two Moves

For now, begin with two actions.

One: Name your real number

Do not write down what you wish you had or the amount you want people to believe you have. Write down the amount you could genuinely put your hands on or command through honest work within the next seven days. Where would it come from? Which skill, relationship, asset or opportunity would produce it? That is your current number. It may be smaller than your ambition, but it has one important advantage: it is real.

Two: Find the smallest thing you can sell

Do not begin with the complete company, the impressive office or the perfect version of your vision. Ask what is the smallest useful thing somebody would pay you for today. It might be a service, a product, an introduction, a delivery, a repair, a lesson or help completing a difficult task.

If your current number is small, your first offer will probably be small too.

That is not shame. It is arithmetic.

Small, honest transactions create evidence. Evidence builds confidence, skill, reputation and trust. Those assets prepare you to command a larger number.

I will reserve the third move for our next discussion because it deserves more than a passing mention.

Go and Find Your Number

I cannot promise you millions.

I cannot guarantee that luck, timing or opportunity will always favour you. I cannot pretend that everyone begins with the same advantages.

But I can help you examine your position more honestly.

I can help you recognise the forms of capital you may have overlooked.

I can encourage you to stop waiting for perfect conditions and make a move with what is already in your hands.

Stop counting only what you do not have.

Name the number you can command today.

Find the smallest useful thing you can offer.

Then begin the disciplined work of adding your next zero — one honest move at a time.

Key Takeaways

  • You are not starting from nothing. You are starting from an unseen foundation of human, social, reputational, intellectual, cultural, digital, time, and spiritual capital.
  • Learn from success before you judge it. Curiosity builds; resentment doesn't.
  • Everyone has a number they can already command today — name it honestly, without inflating or shrinking it.
  • Never skip a zero. The skill that gets you to GH₵1,000 is not the skill that gets you to GH₵10,000 — respect what each level actually requires.
  • Your first two moves: name your real number, then find the smallest thing you can honestly sell this week.

What is the one number you can genuinely command today — and what is the smallest thing you could sell this week to move toward your next zero? Tell me in the comments. I read every one.
